Sonido Isleño’s third release, Tres Is The Place (2001), generated tremendous critical response and worldwide airplay, appearing on top ten album lists for 2001, and making the shortlist for several Grammy and Latin Grammy categories in 2002. The album features unique combinations of voices, instrumentation and personnel. Using son, jazz, chachacha, boogaloo, rumba, danzón, guajira, and the bolero Sonido Isleño takes listeners and dancers on a musical journey bound to satisfy the soul. Joining the core group on this outing are special guests such as drummer Dafnis Prieto, bassist Harvie S. (formerly Harvie Swartz), tenorman David Massucci and organist Adam Scone.
