Hello.
Once again, blogging has not been our #1 priority but we swear we’re going to jump on the social network train soon. Honestly..
Quick bit of news, Warner New Zealand band Midnight Youth’s album The Brave Don’t Run was recently certified Gold in New Zealand. A large chunk of the record was tracked here with producer Terrence Dover and Joel Hamburger, including their hit song “The Letter” which apparently has been #1 on the kiwi charts for some time.
This is the third gold credit garnered for Joel and the studio. Since we haven’t been 100% on top of our marketing the other two credits are:
Tom Jones 24 hours on S-Curve records. Joel arranged and tracked the horns for the single. This record was certified gold in the UK.
Gym Classs Heroes: As Cruel as Schoolchildren. All the drums and a bunch of other stuff was tracked here by Joel Hamburger with producers SAM and SLUGGO.
Hoping to have the budget to pay for the spray-painted recycled Taco records to hang on the wall soon.
best,
joel

Hello all,
Thanks to the holidays I’ve finally had a chance to marginally update the website.
2008 has been filled with some of the best studio moments I can remember. It truly was a blur of great musicians making amazing music.
Some of the people we’ve been honored to work with/for this past year have included Andy Statman, Bela Fleck, Ricky Scaggs, Clogs, The National, Shara Worden, Michael Gordon, Julia Wolfe, Tom Jones, ShyChild, Dresden Dolls, Franz Nicolay, Incadeo, Frank London, Doug Nuemann …. and that’s just who I can think of off the top of my head. (I promise to make a full list soon).
As well we wrote, tracked and mixed music for numerous great films and videos including Planet B-Boy and the soon to be released KimJungIlia.
In the slightly less recent past, Gym Class Heroe’s “As Cruel as School Children” was certified gold.. I’m hoping to be able to afford the spray painted bauble soon.
We’ve also made significant changes around the studio. Studio B downstairs is now fully functional with a Neve broadcast console and another HD2 rig. It’s the home of producer/engineers Damon Whittemore and Marlan Berry whom have been incredibly busy as well. We acquired a tube tech pultec, an ADL LA-2A and most excitingly an EMT-140 plate.. it sounds gorgeous.
More big changes are coming soon so stay tuned..
happy holidays and all the best for you in the new year !

Hello, just letting you know that the rates for the A-room have finally changed. We’ve been trying to do this for the past 8 months but haven’t a large enough break in sessions to make it happen.
Projects in progress in will still be billed at the previous rate.
As well, please contact with your particular needs and budget constraints. We do generally offer discount for longer bookings.
thank you,
joel
